Today is my birthday and Athena & Vega have given me lots of nice cards, presents & food. Vega was in a great mood and started saying all kinds of silly things.

Vega Started Dancing...

Bizarre Bedtime

Normally when I put Vega to bed it's a long process of convincing her it's time for bed, putting her back in bed when she get's up, etc. Last night it went a little different. She was playing with me in the living room, when all of a sudden...

Vega: Oh no!
Daddy: What's wrong?
Vega: I have to go to bed, I'm really tired!

Vega then turned around and ran out of the room and up the stairs.

Vega: Come on Daddy, I want to go to bed.

The entire time while I was getting her ready for bed she was really cooperative and talked a ton.

Vega: I like to play chase
Daddy: Who do you like to play chase with
Vega: My brother, you, my mommy
Daddy: Who else?
Vega: Umm
Daddy: What about Niall?
Vega: Umm, no, he's too busy.
Daddy: Doing what?
Vega: He's busy playing with his toys right now.

Vega: When I grow up I can have grown up drinks
Daddy: What kind of grown up drinks.
Vega: Umm, beer, umm, and coffee
Daddy: What else?
Vega: More beer.

Vega: I'm gonna grow up big and tall and I can't fit in my own bed anymore and I'll be sad.
Vega: Look at my bed. It's very beautiful. It's really cool. Do you like it?
Vega: We went to Texas to see my grandmommy. She is very nice. I love her.

After talking talking talking the whole time we got ready for bed, she jumped into bed and yelled...

Vega: NIGHT NIGHT DADDY. I'M GOING TO SLEEP NOW!

Snow Day in Seattle

I was working in my office downstairs because it was a snow day. I was wearing my headphone and listening to music. Vega walked in...

Vega: "Hi Daddy, can I listen to your headphones please?"
Daddy: "Sure, hear you go", I turned down the volume, selected some music she would like and give them to her

Vega puts on headphones and starts dancing

... a minute passes ...

Vega takes the headphones off
Vega: "Here you go daddy. I can't dance right now, I'm too busy. I have things to do"
Vega leaves room

Later, while putting Vega to bed, again...

Daddy: "Why are you crying?"
Vega: "Because I can't sleep Daddy"
Daddy: "Do you want to sleep or do you want to stay up and cry?"
Vega: "I want to stay up and cry"
Daddy: "Ok"
Vega looks very very confused and stops crying

Snowboarding in Seattle

We had our first snow day of the year here in Seattle. Not a blizzard but still enough to have fun with. We got about 3 or 4" of snow in the backyard. Vega has been talking about snow, snowboards and snow princesses for weeks now so she was incredibly excited. After we got enough snow I took her out back and pulled her around the yard on the snow board.

She would hold my hand and I would pull the snowboard using the strap. She kept yelling "faster daddy, faster". One time I went around a corner really fast and made the snowboard skid out. She managed to stay up! Even though it surprised her and scared her a little she was really "Weeeeee!" After that she wanted to skid out on every corner.



Meanwhile Deklan was seeing snow for the first time in his life. He was totally content to sit there in his gigantic snow suit. I dropped some snow for him to play with and he spent the whole time poking at it with his fingers and laughing. He thought the whole thing was very funny.

Popsicle

Vega stripped off her clothes and started eating a popsicle...this makes her happy. She started dancing and sicking.

Vega: (singing) I apologize. I'm going to take your ice cream and eat it all up

Bedtime for Mermaid

Vega sticks her legs together.

Vega: I turned into a Mermaid, Daddy! I can't walk or dance anymore?
Daddy: Or really? Can you wiggle?
Vega: Yes, I can wiggle (starts wiggling)
Daddy: It's time for bed, how are you going to sleep
Vega: Um (thinks, waves hands) I'll sleep like a mermaid, in the water!

Non-stop Talker

Vega is full on talking non-stop now. From the moment she wakes up to the moment she finally gives up the fight and goes to sleep, she is talking. Lately she's been getting more and more creation witht eh things she is saying.

While I was trying to get her to bed:

Daddy: Close your eyes sweetheart. Go to sleep
Vega: but I can't close my eyes. I'll turn into a tomato.

At the zoo:

Vega: I wanna go to the nightzipper. (Night Exhibit)
Vega: I wanna go see the mingos (Flamingos)
Vega: Let's go see the ringadingdings. I love the ringadingdings. (Orangutans)

While Athena was trying to get her to bed:

Vega: Stop making me grumpy Mommy

While I was trying one night to get her to go to bed

Daddy: Nightnight sweetheart
Vega: I can't go to sleep. I'm just trying to sing
Daddy: But you need to go to sleep
Vega: I'm too sick to sleep
Daddy: You need to sleep so you can feel better
Vega: Ok Daddy
